About Me

Hi! I'm Mrs. Cogdell and I am super excited to embark on this learning journey with you!! This year in Chemistry, despite what you may anticipate, our goal is actually NOT to blow anything up :) However, I do intend to facilitate your learning; meaning, I hope that you will use the curriculum presented in the course to explore your own ideas, research concepts and work with your peers to gain a better understanding of the world around us.

I will be entering my third year as a science instructor, teaching Chemistry Honors and Biology. I entered the teaching career field because I felt as though there was a higher calling on my life.... a calling that entailed building relationships and impacting the lives of others by sharing knowledge and discovering connections. Prior to teaching, I received a bachelor's degree in Multidisciplinary Studies from Tennessee Technological University in Cookeville, Tn. (I was born and raised in Tennessee, but moved to Florida 9 years ago for my previous career.) After relocating to Florida, I worked as a Practical Chemist where supervised a team in creating dialysate for renal replacement in patients with kidney failure. (Sounds cool huh?!?!) Needless to say, I am so glad that I transitioned into a position that will allow us to grow in science together!

My husband and I married in December, 2013. We have two children: a three year old son and a daughter due to be born this September. My husband and I and very involved in church and serving the community. We enjoy spending time with our homeless buddies, making sure they have food and clothes, helping people however we can and spreading love. We also enjoy riding around and listening to music, singing off key and car dancing. Other than that, my life is pretty blah. Promise!...

I look forward to learning all about you and spending time with you this year. Let's make it great!
